Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Thursday held the TRS government responsible for the pathetic situation of the workers and labours in the State.
Accusing the TRS Government of gross violations of the labour rights, he said that TRS has been trying to end all the legitimate rights of the labours in the state. Addressing the INTUC meeting at Khammam DCC office, he said that after the TRS came to power in the state, gross violations to the labour rights were observed and working class has been on the receiving end. He said that the working class in the State was distressed a lot and finding no way out from this crisis like situation.
“TRS has promised to work for the welfare of labour class in the state by establishing new industries in the State. But two years of its government had proved it completely reversed. Instead of working on new industries, TRS Government has been closing down the existing industries thus snatching away the livelihood of thousands of workers and their families”, he lamented.
The TPCC chief said that TRS would pay a heavy price for its anti labour policies in the form of severe backlash from the working class. Stating that Palair by-elections were the best opportunity for the people to teach a fitting lesson to the ruling party, Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed the people to vote for Congress candidate Sucharitha Reddy. He said that Chief Minister KCR was more concerned about increasing the number of legislators in his support in assembly and to suppress the democratic voices rising from the opposition parties. He questioned the TRS government as to why its policies were not resulting in creating employment, employment guarantee and protecting the due rights of labour in the state.
Uttam Kumar Reddy asked the government to come clean on the closure of Nizam Sugar Factory, Sirpur Paper Mills and other industries across the state. He said that laxity on part of the state government had resulted in stalling of power production in the Thermal power plant in Khammam recently.
He appealed to the Palair voters, especially the labour and working class, to teach a fitting lesson to TRS and put an end to its ever rising arrogance.
The meeting was also addressed by Leader of Opposition K. Jana Reddy, PAC Chairman Dr. J. Geetha Reddy and other senior leaders of Congress party and INTUC.
