SCR cancels 88 trains as precautionary step

Hyderabad, Jan 5: As a precautionary measure to safeguard the ralway property during the rail blockade call given by ‘Samaikyandhra Joint Action Committee’ the South Central Railway (SCR) has cancelled 88 train services on Tuesday.The cancelled train services include 39 passenger trains and 49 MMTS (a local service).The local MMTS include services between Secunderabad and Falaknuma, six local trains between Secunderabad and Umdanagar, 10 trains between Falaknuma and Umdanagar, two trains between Falaknuma and Bollarum are among the passenger trains that have been cancelled.

The arrival of some of the long-distance trains may be inordinately delayed. The railway authorities are making arrangements to provide food and water at the stations for the convenience of long distance and stranded passengers,’’ said SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Chandrima Roy.``The cancellation of the trains has been restricted to local services and passenger trains so as not to inconvenience the long  distance passengers. However, if the blockade turns out to be violent, then SCR  may cancel some more trains,’’ the  chief PRO explained.
