Khammam, Jan 4: The CPI (ML) New Democracy activists on Monday organised rallies and sit-ins demanding separate Telangana at the villages, which are strongholds of the party in the district. The people of 20 villages in Khammam, Thirumalayapalem and Khammam Urban mandals staged relay fasts for six hours beginning 6 a.m. as part of their protests being organised in the villages. They conducted meetings and debates in the villages.
Speaking to the people at Thettelapadu in Thirumalaya Palem mandal, New Democracy district secretary Potu Ranga Rao demanded that the Centre constitute separate Telangana and begin the process immediately forthwith. “If the government doesn’t begin the formation of separate Telangana, we will intensify the agitation,” he thundered.“All the Telangana people should join the Telangana movement to secure separate statehood” he called. New Democracy leader, Gurram Achaiah participated in relay fast at Vepakuntla in Khammam Urban mandal.
