Nagari MLA of Ysr Congress Party R.K. Roja was prevented from entering the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Friday triggering protest by YSRCP legislators.
The Hyderabad High Court had granted interim stay on Roja's suspension from Assembly for a period of one year. She had submitted the court's order to Legislature Secretary Satyanarayana on Thursday. However, when she tried to enter the Assembly on Friday morning, she was stopped by the Marshalls citing orders from higher-ups.
Led by Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the YSRCP MLAs sat on protest near the inside gate of the Assembly for almost two hours. Later, they staged a dharna at Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Assembly premises and then proceeded to Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan.
Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Dr. Kodela Sivaprasad Rao announced in the House that he was in receipt of the interim order of the High Court and the House would take a decision on the issue on Monday.
Later, Jagan Mohan Reddy chaired a meeting of YSRCP MLAs at the Lotus Pond office and discussed the future course of action in the Roja case.
