Hyderabad, Dec 31: The time is not ideal for convening ‘wide range of consultations’ with political parties on the bifurcation of state issue, stated Government Chief Whip S Sailajanath.Talking to reporters on Thursday, Sailajanath welcomed the move of Centre for talks with political parties from Andhra Pradesh to discuss the formation of Telangana state issue. However, he opined that the time was not conducive for holding ‘wide range of discussions’ on the carving out of state in the wake of prevailing volatile situation.

He also hailed the decision of Telangana ministers to withdraw their resignations in the interest of state. He said the Union Government should collect the opinion of intellectuals, people’s representatives, stakeholders, political parties and groups on the formation of Telangana state before taking any decision. The government can also conduct secret ballot voting on the controversial statehood issue if need arises on it.
