New Delhi Dec 22: Caught between the rock and hard place, the Congress High Command is buying time to find a solution for the ticklish Telangana issue. The meeting of Central core committee, which is scheduled to be held on Tuesday evening, has been postponed.The MPs from Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra on Tuesday met the AICC in charge of the State, M Veerappa Moily and Sonia Gandhi’s political advisor, Ahmad Patel on Tuesday.
During their discussions the MPs explained the resistance from the locals against the bifurcation of the State. They sought clarifications on the ambiguous statements made by Home Minister P Chidamabaram with regard to Telangana.The senior leaders Moily and Patel, on their part explained their inability on going back on the promise they made and appealed to the MPs to convince the people in their own constituencies on the bifurcation issue.
