'Suicide bid' cases against fasting MLAs in Anantapur

Anantapur,Dec 22: The police registered cases under Sec 309 (attempt to suicide) against Telugu Desam MLAs,who are on fast-unto-death in protest against the division of the state, as their health deteriorated.Tension prevailed on Tuesday at the Government General Hospital in Anantapur where TDP MLAs Paritala Sunitha, P Raghunath Reddy and Parthasarathi were on 'indefinnite fast' opposing the Centre's decision to initiate the process for separate T-state.

The doctors said the fasting MLAs were not cooperating with them and they refused to undergo diagnostic tests. They refused intravenous antibiotics, saline, glucose and other supportive therapy, the doctors said and added they should resume oral feed as their health is deteriorating and their blood pressure and sugar levels are dipping.The district administration planned to shift them to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences considering their health condition.In Dharmavaram, MLA Kethireddy Venkatram Reddy was shifted to hospital.However,he continued his fast at the hospital.
