TDP calls for recall of cops from varsity

Anantapur,Dec 17: Telugu Desam MLA Payyavula Kesav on Thursday stated the recall of Charu Sinha, Inspector General of Police, for her alleged high-handedness in dealing with the students protests in Sri Krishnadevaraya University, as the first achievement for united Andhra Pradesh agitation.Talking to newsmen, he urged the government to withdraw police forces from the University.He also demanded that the government free students arrested for staging agitation with regard to United Andhra Pradesh, and lift police cases against them.

About 10 students were injured in the police lathicharge and people's representatives from both TDP and Congress submitted a representation to Chief Minister K Rosaiah requesting him to recall Charu Sinha, the officer on special duty He also expressed solidarity with the agitating students in Sri Krishnadevaraya University,who are staging relay fast for integrated Andhra Pradesh.However,tension prevailed on the campus when the police arrested Payyavula Kesav and P Raghunath Reddy, who were addressing the students.
