AP government sets up Control room

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the loss of lives and damage to property due to a major earthquake in Nepal, that also hit several parts of India.

After returning from his Nellore and Prakasam tour, he held an emergency video conference to take stock of the situation. He also sought information on the presence of Telugu people in earthquake hit areas.

The Chief Minister also sought information about the whereabouts 52 tourists from Palakollu, Narasapuram and 40 from Vijayawada who are reportedly stranded in Nepal.

Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao, Advisor (Communications) Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, Principal Secretary to CMO Satish Chandra and AP Disaster Management Commissioner Dhanunjaya Reddy were present in a meeting held to review the situation.

Meanwhile, the state government set up a control room in New Delhi and Hyderabad for queries about Telugu people stranded in the region. Call 011-23782388 and 040-23456005 to reach out to the Control rooms in Delhi and Hyderabad respectively.

The Chief Minister also directed AP Bhavan Resident Commissioner to ensure safe evacuation of the tourists from the distressed region. AP Disaster Management Commissioner Dhanunjaya Reddy also briefed the Chief Minister over the situation.
