Mysore,Dec 15:Madikeri MLA Appachu Ranjan has stated that Indian-born underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, owns property worth crores of rupees in binami names and the earning from the property was being used to wage war against India.Ranjan expressed apprehensions that Kodagu was fast becoming a safe haven for persons with terror links.“We lose sleep every time we realize that a dreaded terrorist like Thadiyantavide Nasir,Laskar-e-Toiba commander for South India, lived next door. However, the terror roots in Kodagu have been entrenched deeper. There may be many more terror elements within us,” Rajan feared. He claimed that Dawood has amassed properties rooted through people like Nasir.

The Karnataka government should strengthen its intelligence and the police should increase its microscopic investigation to detect any left out element of Nasir and his alleged links with people like Bashir,Madani and Dawood Ibrahim.Rajan said he would take-up the matter with Home Minister V.S Acharya and demanded the arrest of suspected persons in Hosathota and Nellihudikeri near Sidhapur in the district where Nasir took shelter for two years and recruited youth for his anti-national activities.“All the persons having links with Nasir and individuals who were attending classes conducted by Nasir should be detained immediately.I believe Nasir accomplices, who stood by him during the assassination bid on BJP leader L.K Advani and other RSS leaders in Coimbatore in 1998 have not been caught,” he indicated.Further,Rajan said he raised the issue in the House two years back, but neither the State Government nor the police took it seriously and so Nasir continues to carry on with his anti-national deeds.
