New Delhi,Dec 14: The decision on formation of Telangana has been taken in a haste due to the indefinite fast by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao,admitted Congress Party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed on Monday." We confess that there is no consensus. In fact there are two kinds of views (in the party) on the formation of Telangana.Leaders from Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra do not want a new state, while leaders from Telangana were pressing for a new state."Ahmed said.Caught in a dilemma,he is passing the buck on Telangana by saying that further progress was only possible if there is any resolution from the Andhra Pradesh assembly.
To proceed further on this issue we are waiting for the resolution from the state assembly and further added that Congress is not deviating from the commitment made so far for the formation of new state.Referring to Telugu Desam he said the TDP changed its stance after the turn of events. On the present turmoil in the state he said the party is conferring with the MPs and legislators of AP who are opposing the bifurcation of the state.Asked about the demand for forming a State Reorganisation Commission,Ahmed said the party had no objection to it if there was a consensus.
