Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao on Thursday informed that the design of the new Secretariat building is being prepared and works will begin soon.

Addressing a press conference at the State Secretariat here, the minister said that the R&B Department was assigned the job of preparation of design for the new Secretariat and same would be presented to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for final approval. He informed that the State Government has already sanctioned Rs 150 crore for the new Secretariat building.

Tummala also briefed about the interactions that he had with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari during latter's visit to the State on Wednesday. He said that the Centre has directed Telangana Government to identify land for 1080 kilometres of highways. Similarly, he said four existing highways would also be upgraded. He said proposals were also sought on the development of inland water ways which includes Basar to Chennai on Godavari River.

The minister said that the Telangana Government was giving to priority to establishment of dry ports and the Centre has assured complete support for the same.
