Information Technology Minister K Tarakarama Rao has called upon the professional colleges to improve their standards of teaching.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Nasscom Career Guidance Centre for Telangana started by the IT & ITES Sectors Skill Council here on Tuesday. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari, IT Secretary Haripreeth Singh and Nasscom Chairman BVR Mohan Reddy were also present.
KTR said that the Centre would build enhanced engineering eco-system in Telangana State. He informed that as many 3,000 students from 27 engineering colleges would be given skill training through this centre. The subjects would include Data Analytics, Cyber Security and Design Engineering. He said these subjects have vast employment potential across the globe. He said that the Centre is being started on pilot basis and based on its performance many more centres would be launched across the State.
The minister asked engineering colleges to improve their standards to make students more employable. He warned the colleges against violating UGC and other norms and threatened that the State Government would not hesitate to derecognise sub-standard colleges. He said that the government would also fix responsibility on the officials to maintain stardards.
