Hyderabad,Dec 11: Congress and Praja Rajyam Party members of the Legislative Assembly representing the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions constituted a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to fight for the cause of unified Andhra Pradesh. The JAC members elected Government Chief Whip and Singanamala MLA Sake Sailajanath from Rayalaseema as their convener. The JAC plans to launch hunger protests in the coastal and Rayalseema district headquarters opposing the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

The JAC also made it clear that the Government should not treat the MLAs' resignations as retaliation against Centre’s decision to 'go-ahead' with Telangana state formation procedures.“We express our opposition to the hasty decision taken unilaterally by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the Telangana statehood,” Sailajanath said. The JAC also threatened to stall the proceedings in the Assembly from Monday if the Congress high command failed to announce a clear decision favourable to all leaders.
