BJP slams KCR for praising Nizam

Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy on Saturday slammed Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for praising the Last Nizam Mir Osman Ali Khan.

Addressing a press conference here, Kishan Reddy accused KCR of insulting the martyrs and freedom fighters by praising the rule of Last Nizam. He said personalities like Kommaram Bheem, Dudi Komraiah, Pandit Kishan Rao, Vandemataram Ramchander Rao, Shoiabullah Khan and thousands of others not only struggled against the Nizam's rule, but many achieved martyrdom. He said Shoiabullah Khan had waged a 'jihad' against Nizam's atrocities and autocratic rule. But KCR openly insulted those freedom fighters by appreciating the Nizam, he alleged.

Kishan Reddy said that the Chief Minister had sent a wrong message among the people by praising Nizam. He alleged that Nizam's army indulged in heinous and brutal atrocities against women and other common people who opposed his rule. Thousands of people, who witnessed and underwent those atrocities, are still alive and they would disagree with KCR's contention. He feared that KCR's love for Nizam would one day lead him to remove the statues of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel from Telangana.

The BJP leader said that people have voted for TRS with the hopes that it would create a golden Telangana. However, KCR wants to push back Hyderabad into the slavery of Nizam. He alleged that KCR was making pro-Nizam statements under the influence of its ally Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.
