HYDERABAD,Dec 9:Tension is escalating in the Telangana region as Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao's condition deteriorated on the 11th day of his fast-unto-death on Wednesday.Gearing up for any eventuality that may crop up due to KCR’s deteriorating health, the State administration has imposed prohibitory orders in all the ten districts of Telangana and police are taking control of the universities in Telangana to quell protests for a separate state Prohibitory orders banning the gathering of five or more people were imposed in Hyderabad and nine other districts of Telangana under Crpc Section 144.
The situation in the AP legislative Assembly was no bette on the second day of the winter session.Speaker Kirankumar Reddy had to adjourn the House as TRS stalled the proceedings of the assembly on Wednesday demanding the ruling Congress to pass a resolution for a separate state of Telangana.They were backed by BJP and CPI members.It is learnt that in Delhi, senior Congress leaders continued their hectic talks to find a solution. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Home Minister P Chidambaram elicited opinions of various leaders from Andhra Pradesh and conveyed the same to Congress president Sonia Gandhi.According to Congress sources here a decision is likely to be taken on Wednesday. The party may give an assurance to the TRS chief and convince him to call off his fast.Hundreds of policemen encircled Osmania University,the nerve centre of the movement for a separate state here,to foil student plans to lay a seize to the Assembly on Thursday.Tension prevailed on the campus as armed policemen have been posted at all the buildings. Students who are staying on despite orders to vacate hostels are likely to be arrested.
Three JAC leaders were also taken into custody last night as a precautionary measure.
