Hindupur district to be named after NTR: Balayya

Hindupur on becoming a district will be named after former chief minister N T Rama Rao after Anantapur district bifurcated into Anantapur and Hindupur districts, MLA and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna has said.

Balakrishna was interacting with MLAs at Andhra Pradesh Assembly lobbies here on Thursday after the House was adjourned for the day after expressing condolences to departed Tirupati MLA Venkat Ramana and others who died. “I would keep the promise I made during electioneering to name Hindupur district after NTR. If the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh gets NTR’s name, we will have to think about another name for Hindupur, which will become another district after delimitation process is completed. We have to discuss with the government on this issue, Balakrishna added.
