New Delhi, Dec 8: The Congress high command held hectic consultations with party MPs belonging to Andhra Pradesh here on Tuesday.Among those who attended the meeting include in-charge of party affairs in Andhra Pradesh and Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, a dozen MPs from the Telangana region and other regions including Kadapa Member of Parliament YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. These MPs favoured the immediate creation of a separate Telangana state.
The meeting comes at the end of a 48-hour bandh, called by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, ending on Monday night with incidents of sporadic violence being reported from various parts of the region.The meeting comes in the wake of an all-party meeting held in Hyderabad on Monday evening chaired by Chief Minister K Rosaiah. The all-party meet was held to arrive at an amicable solution to the current impasse.
The Law Minister is reported to have called the meeting of Congress MPs to elicit their opinions so that the party can take a common stand on the issue. Moily also reportedly asked the MPs not to air their views before the media as this could lead to more confusion.Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday adjourned for the day without transacting any business after TRS stalled the proceedings demanding that the House pass a resolution favouring separate Telangana.
