HYDERABAD, Dec 8:The health condition of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao is deteriorating owing to his fast that entered the tenth day on Tuesday.According to the medical team monitoring his health at the Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, the condition of KCR’s health is critical.Speaking to reporters, NIMS director B Prasada Rao said that KCR was not cooperating with the doctors for his treatment.``If he doesn't give up his hunger strike, his life would be in danger,Prasada Rao added.
``The medical team is artificially propping up his health, but it has its own repercussions over a period of time,’’ explained Prasada Rao.The TRS chief is being administered both saline and 'total parental nutrition' by the hospital but now doctors say that prolonged administration of IV fluids is leading to problems. At present KCR is suffering from ‘hypoproteinemia', as per doctors, which means low protein content in the blood and this reduces the resistance power of a person.
It is learnt that doctors strongly advised KCR, who is suffering from this protein malnutrition, to take proper oral nutrition and reduce his dependence on the IV fluids as sources of nutrition. They said his general condition could worsen suddenly if he does not start taking food orally. Many TRS leaders rushed to the hospital on hearing the news of KCR's deteriorating health. Meanwhile, doctors in the city explained that given KCR's pre-existing medical conditions, particularly diabetes, even total parental nutrition which was administered to him intravenously was insufficient to take care of nutritional needs.
