Hyderabad,Dec 7:The winter session of the State Assembly began on a stormy note on Monday with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) members rushing in to the well of the House demanding a separate state. The Speaker,Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who was in the Chair, lost his cool when some TRS members tried to obstruct the passage of the condolence resolution for former chief minister,Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, moved by the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah. The former Home minister, Mr K Jana Reddy, intervened and pacified the agitated TRS members to resume their seats. It was almost a verbal duel between the members of the Treasury benches and the TRS members.
The Minister for Health, Mr Danam Nagender was seen arguing with the TRS members when they raised slogans like ‘Jai Telangana’. Shouts were also raised from the Treasury benches. As order was restored in the House after repeated appeals from the Chair, the Chief Minister moved the resolution condoling the death of the former chief minister, Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, in a copter crash on September 2. Recalling his long association with the late leader and how he advised Dr Reddy not to proceed on the Pada Yatra in 2004 when he (Dr Reddy) fell ill, Mr Rosaiah said that he was always treated by Dr Reddy as his elder brother.Rising above political considerations, leaders of all parties paid rich tributes to Dr Reddy and termed him as a visionary who always moved ahead with missionary zeal. The leadership qualities of the late chief minister were lauded by all the members.
Every member appreciated the welfare schemes and developmental projects he had initiated. Cutting across party lines, the members felt that Ysr’s tragic and sudden demise had left a deep void in the state political scenario which would be almost impossible to fill. The Chief Minister said that Ysr’s death was a great personal loss for him. He said that, “Ysr’s death has not only created a dent in public life.” Mr Rosaiah recalled the numerous welfare and developmental schemes initiated by Ysr.
He said that many times he questioned himself if it was possible to implement all the schemes Ysr had visualized given the economic condition of the State. It was Ysr’s self belief that made him go ahead with his vision and schemes and also this very self confidence which ensured that the schemes were implemented successfully.Mr Rosaiah said that Ysr’s sole aim and objective was to do something good for the people when an opportunity was provided to him as a political leader.
