Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Monday proposed to conduct a joint meeting with Chief Ministers K Chandrashekar Rao (Telangana) and N Chandrababu Naidu (Andhra Pradesh) to resolve the disputes between the their respective States.
Goyal gave this assurance when Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao called on him at New Delhi complaining that Naidu has been depriving Telangana its share of power in violation of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. Harish Rao sought immediate intervention of the Centre to ensure that Telangana gets its due share of power from power projects based in AP. He also briefed the Union Minister on the problems being confronted by the Telangana State.
Goyal reportedly assured Harish Rao that contentious issues could be resolved by holding negotiations at top level.
