YSRCP faults Naidu's remarks

Pooh-poohing the remarks of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that he will shoulder the responsibility of clearing farm loans, YSR Congress has said farmers are in utter confusion as he is going back on his promise on some pretext or the other and the Party will hold dharnas on Oct 16 at all mandal headquarters highlighting the failures of the TDP government.

“The Chief Minister’s remark at Anantapur that it is his responsibility to clear the loans of the farmers has been an old tune which he has been singing even before the elections but did not fulfill a single promise and farmers are in distress and confused with his delay and dilly-dallying. There is restlessness among the farmers and we will be taking up their cause and hold dharnas across the State on October 16,” Party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Tuesday.

With every passing day, the anxiety and disappointment among farmers and DWACRA women groups have been increasing. As Chandrababu Naidu has time and again promised and failed to keep it up, people are not in a position to believe him though he has put up a brave face to pass some favourable remark at the Anantapur meeting.

“Instead the Chief Minister should persuade the RBI Governor, who will be in city soon, to give this assurance which will bring some credence to his remarks. He has given impracticable promises and has set up committees and also Farmers Empowerment Corporation aimed at clearing 20 % loans and issuing bonds for the rest.

Nothing concrete has been done so far and not a single loan was waived and the Chief Minister telling that he is struggling to do the balancing act is ridiculous as he has described as inexperience our leader YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s apprehension on clearing loans to a tune of 1.27 lakh crores.

The experienced TDP leader has also told the Election Commission that he has full grip on State economy and his Party has done its homework for the loan waiver. People believed and voted TDP to power. Still he is finding ways, escape routes and the methodology to drastically reduce the quantum of loans.

The total agriculture loan waiver has been reduced to crop loan then loans against gold were deleted from the list, which was shrunk further to one loan per family.

With such a dubious record of the Chief Minister, farmers are bound to be at the receiving end and as a responsible opposition party we will take up the cause by holding dharnas and we will chalk out future course of action,” he said.
