TRS Govt pushed farmers into pre-2004 era: Ponnala

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Friday alleged that TRS Government has pushed the farmers into the pre-2004 era when they were forced to commit suicide due to various reasons.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Ponnala accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of going back on the promises that he made during the elections. Stating that the government would need at least Rs 5 lakh crore to fulfill all the promises, he asked the Chief Minister to explain as to how he plans to mobile funds for the same. He alleged that instead of fulfilling the promises, KCR has started giving different twists to the issues. He said although the TRS promised to waive off the farm loans, KCR later twisted the issue and said the loans would be rescheduled. Similarly, the TRS Government completely ignored the promise of waiving off gold loans taken by farmers for agricultural purposes. The banks are not giving fresh loans for defaulting farmers.

Ponnala said that the KCR has brought back the same situation which farmers faced during the TDP regime. He claimed that farmers have now started realising that they made a mistake by not voting for the Congress party.

The TPCC chief said that the KCR too has realised that he would not be able to stay in power for so long and for the same reasons, he is trying to strengthen himself by encouraging defections in other parties. Besides staying in power, nothing else is important for KCR, he said. While the Chief Minister is able to visit the politicians admitted in hospital, he could not take out a few minutes from his busy scheduled to meet the children who were injured in Masaipet Railway accident.

Ponnala also accused the TRS of using unparliamentary language against Congress candidate Sunitha Lakshma Reddy. He said that the Congress party would lodge a complaint in this regard with the Election Commission of India.
