New Delhi,Dec 3: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday demanded that the Centre introduce a Bill for creation of a separate Telangana state in the Rajya Sabha.Accusing the Congress of betraying the people of Telangana region, Bjp leader Prakash Javdekar said that it would support any Bill for this purpose during Zero Hour in the Upper House of Parliament.Mr Javdekar accused the Congress of dillydallying on the issue during the last five decades and going back on its word to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
He said, "They (the Congress) came into power. But they never brought the bill...TRS kept on hoping that Sonia Gandhi would do something but nothing happened."He also said that passage of the Bill would be easier as the other major political party in Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would also offer its support since it has shifted its stand on the carving out of a Telangana State now.The Bjp member said the people of the region, who feel betrayed, have come out in the streets.
