Decks cleared for Vijaylakshmi’s unanimous election

Hyderabad,  Dec 2: The  decks have been cleared for Y S Vijayalakshmi, widow of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to get elected unanimously as MLA from Pulivendula assembly constituency in Kadapa district.The last date for filing of nominations is December 2 and none of the political parties have fielded any candidates against Vijayalakshmi. Not even independents have come forward  to oppose her from this constituency. As no other candidate filed nomination for the by-election   scheduled to be held on December 19, the election commission will declare Vijayalakshmi elected unopposed on December 3.

As a mark of respect for late YSR, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu announced that his party would not field any candidate against Vijayalakshmi in the by-elections to Pulivendula seat.Other opposition parties including the Left parties, the BJP and the Praja Rajyam Party also have decided not to  field any candidate.Vijayalakshmi filed her nomination papers on Tuesday, after addressing a meeting of the Congress activists and YSR supporters at YSR Auditorium in Pulivendula.
