The Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday ridiculed the decision of Telangana Government to appoint Tennis star Sania Mirza as the State's Brand Ambassador.
Speaking to media persons at the State Bjp headquarters, Telangana Bjp floor leader Dr K Lakshman said that Sania Mirza was born in Mumbai, brought-up in Hyderabad and got married to a Pakistani and therefore, how she could be the ideal choice to be Telangana's Brand Ambassador. He said while Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been insisting on pre-1956 nativity condition for fee reimbursement, he is fine with a Mumbai-born player to be State's Brand Ambassador.
Dr Lakshman said that through Sania Mirza's appointment KCR was trying to lure Muslims in view of upcoming GHMC elections. He said KCR lacks clarity on giving 12 per cent reservation to Muslims, which will be opposed by the Bjp. Therefore, he is trying to divert the community's attention by using Sania Mirza.
