Hyderabad,Dec 1:While uneasy calm prevailed in the Telangana region with incidents of violence and rallies the Venkateswarnagar area of Jagadgirigutta in Kukatapalli is under the grip of tension on Tuesday.Following the damage caused to late P Janardhan Reddy’s statue on Monday night by unknown miscreants tension prevailed in this area.Loyalists of late PJR who gathered at the statue staged demonstrations condemning the act.They were joined by other Congress workers who in turn took out a procession from Venkateswaranagar to Bhagayanagar colony and staged `rasta roko’.The `rasta roko’ caused immense inconvenience to the morning traffic.They urged the police to nab the culprits and arrest them.
P Vishnuvardhan Reddy son of late PJR reached the spot and appealed to the agitating Congress activists not resort to any violence.According to the police sources unidentified persons broke the left hand of PJR’s statue till the wrist.The incident should have occurred only after midnight on Monday as the Municipal workers sweeping the roads brought it to the notice of the locals only in the early hours of Tuesday.
