Hyderabad,Nov 30: The Bandh called by the Telangana Rashtra Samiti in protest against the arrest of its chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, turned violent at many places in Telangana region on Monday. Incidents of violence like setting fire to buses, private vehicles,attacking the petrol bunks and stone-throwing, marked the day-long Bandh in Telangana region. According to the reports received from across Telangana region,two TRS activists committed suicide demanding the release of KCR who was arrested on Monday.A tenth class student of Duddeda village in Medak district hanged himself. In Valugonda village of Karimnagar, a TRS supporter committed suicide.
The Osmania university was gripped with fear and tension as students of Osmania University resorted to stone-pelting at a shopping complex outside the campus, damaged a petrol bunk and many private cars. They also attacked the house of senior official of the A. P.State Council of Higher Education.The TRS activists set fire to three busses in BHEL area on the outskirts of the city. Of the three buses two are private buses and one is an RTC bus.In the wake of damage caused to the RTC buses on Sunday,the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has suspended many of its services on Monday.
Normal life was thrown out of gear following the Bandh.The passengers,particularly those in rural areas, had a tough time as RTC buses went off the road and even the Telangana Auto Drivers Association expressed its support to the Bandh.All Government offices,educational institutions and shops remained closed in the region while the non-availability of public transport forced people to remain indoors.The Bandh was total in Hyderabad except in the parts of Old City which is a strong hold of MIM.
