Telangana Congress senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao on Monday warned of launching a massive agitation if the Centre fails to withdraw the ordinance on Polavaram Project.

Addressing a press conference here, Hanumantha Rao said that the BJP-led NDA Government took the unilateral decision of issuing the ordinance to facilitate the merge of seven mandals of Khammam district with Seemandhra. He said that the mandals belong to Telangana State and the Centre would not be allowed to merge them with residuary State of Andhra Pradesh at any cost. He said that the Congress would go along the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, if required, to oppose the ordinance.

VHR blamed Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu and AP Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu were responsible for the controversial ordinance. He said while Chandrababu Naidu was making provocative statements by announcing that Polavaram Dam would be constructed at any cost, Venkaiah Naidu was using his influence at the Centre to damage the interest of Telangana State. As a Union Minister, he said Venkaiah Naidu should not be biased towards any State.
