Telangana Legislative Affairs Minister T Harish Rao on Saturday appealed to all political parties to continue the practice of unanimous election of Speaker of Telangana State Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons after reviewing the arrangements for first session of Telangana Assembly beginning from Monday, Harish Rao informed that he had consulted all political parties to ensure that the Speaker gets elected unanimously. The Speaker's election will be held on June 10. With 63 MLAs in the 119-member House, the Trs can comfortably get its candidates elected as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker.
Harish Rao informed that senior MLA K Jana Reddy will take the oath as Pro-Term Speaker at 9.30 AM on Monday and he would administer the oath to new members from 11 AM onwards. The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of Legislative Assembly will meet soon after the Speaker's election on June 10 to finalise the agenda.
Governor ESL Narasimhan will address the Assembly on June 11 and the Deputy Speaker's election too will be held on the same day. Later, the House will take up the Motion of Thanks on Governor's address.
Harish Rao informed that the members of Telangana Legislative Council would also take oath on June 9. The State Cabinet will meet on Sunday evening to approve the Governor's address, he informed.
