Former chief minister Nedurumalli Janardhan Reddy passed away here on Friday morning following prolonged illness.
He was 80 and is survived by his wife N Rajyalakshmi and four sons. He was undergoing treatment for neurology-related problems.
Janardhan Reddy, a sitting member of Rajya Sabha began his political career in the 1970s. He was a member of the 12th, 13th and 14th Lok Sabha and was elected to the Rajya Sabha thrice. He served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from December 1990 to October 1992.
In September 2007, Janardhan Reddy and his wife escaped an assassination attempt by the naxalites near Nellore.
Several senior leaders including condoled the death of Janaradhan Reddy.
