Asserting that the heavy turn-out in the elections in Seemandhra indicates a total sweep and the verdict would be decisive and one-sided in favour of YSRCP, the party president Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy has reiterated that they would support any party in Centre that would safe-guard the interests of the state.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday after the polling was over, he said: “as per the preliminary estimates the voting percentage is more than 75 % and this is like a torrent that would sweep away the divisive forces and give a thumping and decisive mandate to YSRCP.”
When asked who will the Party support at the Centre, he said:” It is not Modi, Tom, Dick or Harry. Our concern is only the development of the new state. We do not surrender to Delhi like what Chandrababu Naidu has done but will play a pivotal role in the formation of the government at the Centre and upkeep the Telugu pride.
Development of the State is high on the agenda as the Congress has divided the state irrationally and the Bill was pushed through with intrigue with Congress, BJP and TDP being party to it.
The outgoing Prime Minister has read out a letter in the House and the contents of the letter did not form part of the Bill. They have taken Hyderabad away from us and did not name where the new capital will be and how much funds they would give.
Hyderabad is the engine of growth as 75% of VAT comes from there and the city accounts of 60 % of the total revenue. The Centre has said it will give special status to Seemandhra but did not specify the benefits it will get and how long they will be continued.
The Bill is very ambiguous and people of Seemandhra have used their wisdom and voted in big numbers. I thank them, the cadre, leaders and all those who extended support to us for the past 4.5 years to our struggle and the dawn will break ushering in a very positive and decisive result, he said.
When asked about the election-related incidents, he said these are sporadic and they occurred when TDP leaders did not follow the rule book and tried to rig the polls.
“However, I see a clear sweep from Srikakulam to Kuppam in favour of YSRCP, this time,” he said.
