Ponnala accuses KCR of making false promises

Telangana Congress president Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Wednesday ridiculed the election promises of TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Ponnala accused the TRS chief of trying to mislead the people by building castles in the air. He said that some of the promises being made by KCR like providing aero-healthcare in agency areas was like chasing a mirage. He said KCR has been crossing all the limits in making promises only draw the people's attention and get votes in the ensuing elections.

Ponnala asked KCR to list out the development that he brought in Karimngar and Mahabubnagar Lok Sabha seat which he represented in the Parliament or the Medak district, which he claims to be the bastion of TRS. He said KCR has failed to perform as a MLA and MP and now he is trying to cheat the entire Telangana with his non-practical promises. He described KCR as the perfect disciple of "All Free Baba" (Chandrababu Naidu).

The Telangana PCC chief claimed that it was the Congress party that brought real development in Telangana region. Besides Pranahita-Chevella Project, the Congress Government constructed Outer Ring Road, IT Corridors and also got approvals for mega projects like Information Technology Investment Region on Hyderabad - Zaheerabad sector and Metro Rail for Hyderabad. He alleged that KCR ignored all principles for political gains. The BJP, which gave the slogan of One Vote, Two States in 1999, did not give Telangana due to TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu. However, the TRS, which contested its first election as an ally of Congress, aligned with the same anti-Telangana Naidu in 2009 elections, he alleged.

Ponnala dismissed the survey reports that predicted an edge for TRS over Congress in Telangana. He alleged that most of the surveys were doctored and aimed at damaging the Congress party. He claimed that the Congress party would form the first government in new State of Telangana. However, he said that the Congress party's doors were still open for the TRS for talks on alliance.

Earlier, he inaugurated an Election Control Room at Gandhi Bhavan which would facilitate monitoring of election campaign in all 119 Assembly and 17 Lok Sabha seats on 24 x7 basis.
