The stage is all set for the introduction of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2013 in Lok Sabha on Thursday.
According to sources, the UPA government will table the Telangana Bill in Lok Sabha on Thursday soon after the Question Hour is over after 12.00 noon. The government has reportedly taken the permission of Speaker Meira Kumar to lay the Bill in Lok Sabha. Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha Secretariat has also circulated a 69-page AP Reorganization Bill 2013, as approved by the Union Cabinet on February 7, to all the members.
The Seemandhra MPs from Congress, TDP and YSRCP are finalising their strategies to stall the tabling of Bill. However, despite obstructions, the UPA Government looks keen on the introduction of Bill. Meanwhile, the TDP MPs have written a letter to the Speaker expressing objection that since Article 371 (D) needs to be repealed before going for bifurcation, the tabling of the Bill may not stand legal scrutiny.
The Speaker has since called for a legal opinion on the matter and Lok Sabha Secretariat has written to the Union Law Ministry for an opinion on the same.
