Hyderabad, Nov 20: Kadapa MP and son of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhar Reddy on Friday stated that one who makes sacrifices to keep his/her commitments like YSR becomes a true leader of the masses. Campaigning for the Nov 23 GHMC elections despite the half-hearted invitation from State Congress leadership, Jagan recounted the services rendered by his late father who has ''become a role model'' for the state.Jagan launched his campaign aboard a well-decorated van from the Chief MInister's camp office at Begumpet and toured in Maheswaram constituency, represented by Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy recalling the services of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and his father YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
About 51,000 persons in GHMC limits benefited due to the free education scheme evolved by the AICC leadership and implemented by his late father, he claimed.Interestingly, Jagan's 'campaign chariot' has protraits of AICC president Sonia Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and that of his late father. However, the photographs of senior state leaders of the present regime or those of the State Congress leadership were conspicuously missing.
The young leader sought the people’s support for welfare schemes initiated by the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy and lambasted Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu for having lost the people's trust as he failed to keep his commitments. Sick people who went to hospitals during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime often became bankrupt, he alleged.Promising to build pucca houses to everyone residing in GHMC limits, Jagan said people who sported yellow dresses were only provided houses during the TDP regime, he averred.
