Hyderabad,Nov 18:Leaders representing Telugu Desam Party,Communist Party of India(Marxist),Communist Party of India and the Lok Satta under the leadership of Nara Chandrababu Naidu met Governor N D Tiwari and submitted a memorandum demanding action against grant of mining leases in favor of Obulapuram Mining Corporation (Omc) and illegal mining operations by Omc in violation of various statutes of Central and state governments.They alleged that Omc and other companies operating in Anatapur district have conducted mining operations contrary to the approved mining plans.

The all party committee requested the Governor to intervene and direct the Government to  immediately suspend the mining leases/operations of the Omc and other companies in Anantapur district as ordered by Forest Advisory Committee (FAC)/Central Empowered Committee (CEC).The committee  also urged the Governor to  suspend/transfer all the key officials,including Director of Mines and Chief Conservator of Forests, who are involved in granting of mining leases illegally and allowed Omc and its associates to conduct illegal mining in violation of Forest Conservation Act.

They  also  demanded the  Governor to  arrange for survey by “Survey of India” to fix the boundaries,as directed by the CEC/ FAC and to identify the encroachment of forestland by  these mining companies.The signatories of memorandum apart from Chandrababu are B.V. Raghavalu (CPM,State Secretary) K.Narayana (CPI State Secretary) Dr.Jayaprakash Narayana (President,Loksatta Party)  and K. Govardhan (CPI (ML).
