Congresss senior leader and National Disaster Management Authority (Ndma) vice-chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Monday said that the concerns being expressed by the people of Seemandhra region over the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh were real and serious.
Speaking to media persons here, Shashidhar Reddy said that there was a sense of insecurity among the people of Seemandhra region since the announcement of division of State. He said that the people from Seemandhra region too have played a significant role in the growth and development of Hyderabad city and therefore, their contribution should not be discounted by anyone.
Shashidhar Reddy said that the leaders of all political parties, especially those from Telangana region, should restrain from making provocative statements. He said a sense of fear and insecurity would prevent further growth and investments in Hyderabad. Therefore, steps should be taken to restore confidence among people from all the regions living in Hyderabad and they should not be afraid of division of Andhra Pradesh and feel safe in Telangana State. He said that the Group of Ministers (GoM) has been apprised of these apprehensions and it would surely take steps to address them.
