In a major relief to YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the CBI Special Court here on Monday granted him bail in the Disproportionate Assets case.
Jagan was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on May 27, 2012, in the Quid Pro Quo cases. Different courts rejected his bail during the last 16 months and it was only after the CBI told the court the investigation in the case has been completed, the court granted him bail.
Jagan was lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison since his arrest and was awarded Special Prisoner status. He had spent a brief period in hospital after he undertook hunger strike over the Samaikhyandhra issue.
Hundreds of Jagan's supporters gathered at the Nampally court and also near Chanchalguda Jail to listen to the court's verdict on Jagan's bail petition.
