Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath on Thursday appealed to the leaders of all political parties to come on a single platform to prevent division of Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Sailajanath said that the leaders across party lines should launch joint agitation to pressurise the Centre to reverse its decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to create Telangana State. He claimed that all Congress leaders from the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema region were firm on keeping the State united and have been making sincere efforts to stop State's division.

Sailajanath asked the Telugu Desam Party and YSR Congress party to change their approach and attitude towards the issue of bifurcation of State. He said that both the parties should make a single statement expressing their opposition of Andhra Pradesh.

The minister also informed that Congress ministers and legislators from the Seemandhra region would stage a dharna before the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Assembly premises on September 3.
