Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday accused the Congress party of exploiting the sentiments of Telangana and Seemandhra regions in order to reap political benefits in both the regions.
Addressing a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills here, Naidu said that the Congress party's decision to bifurcate the State was aimed at winning maximum number of seats in Telangana region with the help of Telangana Rashtra Samithi. Further, he said that the Congress wants to transfer anti-Congress votes in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions to YSR Congress party. With this equation, the Congress party wanted to enjoy the support of maximum number of MPs from the State in the Lok Sabha after next elections, he said.
However, the Tdp chief said that the Congress would not succeed in its plans. He said that the decision to bifurcate the State was taken in haste due to the fear that the Tdp would return to power in the next elections.
Naidu also slammed the Congress-led UPA Government for its failure to maintain economic growth rate. He said that the wrong policies of the government have pushed the entire country into economic crisis. The administration came to a halt and situation has turned so worse that it resembles more like the conditions that prevailed during emergency.
The Tdp president also held the Centre responsible for the rising prices of all essential commodities.
