Guntur, Nov 12: Minister for Major Industries Kanna Lakshminarayana on Thursday challenged the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to come up with evidence on the alleged irregularities by the Obulapuram Mining Corporation owned by Karnataka Tourism Minister G Janardhana Reddy in Obulapuram in Anantapur district bordering Karnataka.
The Minister told newsmen that the TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu should come up with clear evidence on the alleged irregularities instead of producing fake documents.
Instead of politicizing the issue for getting political mileage, he advised Naidu to come up with genuine documents on the issue, if any.He said the TDP leaders were making baseless allegations against the late chief minister’s son and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy fearing that their political future would be doomed if he enters the state politics.Earlier, at an all-party team called to probe the alleged irregularities gave a 'clean chit' to the government, he averred. Now, the Andhra Pradesh Government has constituted a three-member committee to probe the allegations concerning the illegal mining, encroachment of reserve forests and construction of illegal roads in the forest and transportation of ore in violation of the OMC norms.
The committee would submit its report in 10 days. The probe was ordered after the TDP and other Opposition parties demanded a comprehensive probe into the charges that OMC illegally shifted iron ore worth Rs 5 billion from Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh.TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu demanded that the OMC mining licence be cancelled. He said the illegal mining by the firm caused huge losses to the state in the last five years.
