The Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre has reportedly given its nod for the formation of Telangana State.
Although the official announcement is expected in a while, this would be the second time when the UPA Government would be giving its commitment for Telangana State. It was on December 9, 2009, when the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram announced that the Centre would begin the process of formation of Telangana. However, the Congress government could not fulfill its commitment.
The UPA Coordination Committee, which met at Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's residence on Tuesday evening, has reportedly adopted a unanimous resolution for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The Congress Working Committee, which met later, also gave its nod to the Telangana proposal.
The announcement is yet to be made official which is likely to happen at the AICC media briefing scheduled at 7 PM.
