Hyderabad,Nov 11: With the Congress High Command blowing out the chances of Jaganmohan Reddy being chosen as the Congress Legislature Party leader, the Kadapa MP is now being considered for a berth in the Union Cabinet.Sources close to Jagan told INN here on Wednesday that he is likely to be accommodated in the Union cabinet with an independent charge as a state Rank minister. However, the sources are hopeful that in all likelihood Jagan will be offered Minister of State Shipping (Independent charge). The ministry is currently held by G K Vasan, son of late G K Moopanar. In the light of Vasan’s desire to devote more time to state politics in order to reestablish the Congress in Tamil Nadu, the Congress leadership may give the nod.
However,it is not clear whether Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will let go of Vasan or move him to another portfolio. There is also speculation over whether the PM will only include Jagan in the expansion or will go for a bigger expansion. When mentioned about the Jagan’s role in state politics the sources dismissed the possibility of Jagan taking over as the Pradesh Congress Committee chief. The post is now held by D Srinivas and he is there to continue till further orders from the High command,’’ the sources disclosed.
