Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Dr N Tulasi Reddy on Monday slammed the YSR Congress party for organising two-day protest against the detention of Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Tulasi Reddy asked the YSRCP to clarify as to against whom it was organising protest. He said that Jagan was in judicial custody following investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the Disproportionate Assets case. He said Jagan's detention was neither linked to the government nor the Congress party.
Tulasi Reddy said that by organising protest, the YSRCP was trying to send wrong message among the people. Describing the protest as an attack on judiciary, he alleged that the YSRCP had no faith on judiciary. He alleged Jagan was in jail due to his misdeed and it was wrong on the part of YSRCP leaders to blame the Congress party or government for his arrest and detention.
The Congress spokesperson suggested that Jagan and his party's leaders should cooperate with the CBI for early completion of investigation instead of targeting the government or judiciary.
