New welfare policy for unorganised sector soon: Nagender

Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Wednesday announced that a new labour board would be constituted soon which would draft a new policy for welfare of unorganised sectors.

The announced came after CPI (M) MLA G Mallesh disrupted the official celebrations of May Day at Ravindra Bharati. Mallesh condemned the government for not announcing the regularisation of temporary workers in Angawadi, RTC and other sectors. Intervening on the issue, Nagender said that the issues like minimum wages, ESI, PF and other benefits for the workers in the unorganised sectors would be covered under the new policy to be drafted by the new board.

Earlier, Nagender listed out the various welfare measures being implemented by the State Government for the labourers.

The minister also distributed the awards among the labourer and their leaders. A booked titled "Karmika Kiranalu" and a CD "Sammay Kiranulu" were also released on the occasion.
