Former minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Monday took oath as the member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council.
Council chairman Dr A Chakrapani administered the oath in the presence of PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and other senior leaders.
Talking to reporters later, Shabbir Ali thanked the Congress leadership for nominating him to the post. Assuring that he would continue to raise the issues related to minorities and other downtrodden people, Shabbir Ali made an indirect attack on the Majlis leadership. Without mentioning any name, he ridiculed the MIM leaders who speak in English language in the Assembly.
Shabbir Ali said that he took the oath in Urdu language, his mother tongue and the State's second official language. He said the leaders should themselves speak the language in all forums besides teaching the language to their children.
The former minister, who went to Umra pilgrimage in Holy Mecca and Madina, reached the city on Monday morning and directly went to the Legislative Council to take oath directly from the Shamshabad Airport.
