Left Parties' leaders call off hunger strike

The Left Parties on Wednesday called off the four-day long indefinite hunger strike launched to protest against the hike in power tariff.

The decision was taken after the leaders of seven Left Parties including the CPI and CPI (M) State Secretaries K Narayana and BV Raghuvulu were taken into custody by the police and shifted to Gandhi Hospital. They went on indefinite hunger strike demanding withdrawal of hike in power tariff and Fuel Surcharge Adjustment. The leaders broke their fast following the assurance from the State Government that hike in power tariff would be considered.

Meanwhile, Raghavulu hailed the TDP MLA for launching a fast on the power tariff hike issue at Old MLA Quarters.
