Hyderabad,Nov 5:As the deadline for nominations to GHMC is drawing close the tension is mounting on the Congress party leadership over the selection of candidates.Realizing the difficulties encountered by the congress leadership in the selection of candidates,the congress High command on Thursday gave simple guide lines to the party leaders which is to be followed while clearing the candidates list.According to the High Command’s directives the candidates who lost in the previous Corporation polls should not be given a ticket.At the same time candidates  who are chosen for contesting in the coming elections should not be in any way related either to the MPs or MLAs.

Against the backdrop of these instructions from the High Command the Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas is holding consultations with senior Congress leaders in the state.On Thursday he had a meeting with the Minister for Health and Medical Services Danam Nagender and later had consultations with MP V Hanumantha Rao.Meanwhile senior congress leader Neduramalli Janardhana Reddy also had  discussions with Chief Minister K Rosaiah over the selection of candidates for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.Meanwhile the Congress workers staged a dharna in front of D Srinivas’s residence resenting the choice  of a non local resident as the candidate for the GHMC elections from Sitaphalmandi.
