Hyderabad,Nov 3:Journalists should be active in their profession but it is always better that they desist from being over-active, said the Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah, here on Tuesday.Participating as the chief guest at the first three-day conference of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists Federation (APUWJF) at the RTC Kala Bhavan at Bagh Lingampally in the city, Mr Rosaiah said that it is always welcome that the reporters and the analysts should be active in their profession. “But sometimes, over activeness is harmful not only to the system but also to their credibility. Finally, a media person is taken by his or her credibility,” he felt.
The Chief Minister is of the opinion that radical changes are being witnessed in society and that the media too is no exception “Change should always be for the better. They should not have any adverse impact on the society,” he commented. Both the print and the electronic media should report the day-to-day happenings as news. “Analysis and views are totally different and they should reflect reality or near to actuality.A thin line should be drawn between news and views. However, in the increasing competition in the media the very thin line is missing which is very sad,” he observed.Mr Rosaiah said that his Government always accords priority for the implementation of welfare measures for journalists.
“But the respective media managements should also give equal importance to look after the welfare of their staff member, including the journalists,” he said.Mr Rosaiah promised to positively consider the appeal of the Federation for the allotment of a building in the city to house its offices.
