The Telangana Rashtra Samithi and Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on Tuesday condemned the statement of Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde that no deadline could be fixed to resolve the Telangana issue.
Addressing a meeting at Mahbubnagar while participating in the TJAC bus yatra, Prof Kodandaram reminded that the Union Home Minister himself announced that he would solve the Telangana issue within one after holding an all-party meeting on January 28. However, he said that Shinde not only failed to fulfill his promise, but has been trying to put the issue in a cold storage under the pressure from Seemandhra leaders.
Holding the Centre responsible for the recent suicides for the cause of statehood, Prof Kodandaram said that further delay would only worsen the situation in the region. He also slammed Union Minister K Chiranjeevi for stating that the Telangana demand would be forgotten till 2014 elections.
Meanwhile, addressing a press conference here after releasing a wall-poster on general strike on February 21 and 22, TRS MLA K Taraka Ramarao sought an explanation from the Union Home Minister for the change in his stand. Reminding that Shinde promised a solution for Telangana issue within a month after all-party meeting, he said the union minister must explain the reasons that forced him to change his stand on the statehood issue.
